Job Description

The Director, School Support (DOSS) is the leader of Brooklyn’s Regional Operations. You will:

  • Manage the regional operations team, driving the most high-leverage workstreams at the regional level and meeting the day-to-day needs of Brooklyn’s school-based operations teams.
  • Through the regional operations team, directly deliver region-wide services, including certification, assessments, athletics, technology, bulk ordering, professional development, and meeting support, when those services can be executed most effectively at the regional level.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Brooklyn school and regional leaders, counterparts in other Uncommon regions, and Home Office teams to anticipate needs, remove roadblocks, and ensure every Brooklyn school has the systems and resources required for students to thrive.
  • Additional duties and responsibilities as needed.

This role has an October 1st start date. 

Qualifications

Experience

  • 5–6+ years of professional experience
  • Prior experience in school operations.

Skills

  • Advanced project management, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Proactive, urgent problem solving.
  • Ability to build efficient systems, drive continuous improvement, and communicate complex information clearly with exceptional customer service.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree welcome.

Travel and Schedule

  • Based in Brooklyn with a hybrid schedule, minimum three days per week in-office, and frequent travel within the region to various Brooklyn schools.
  • This role has an October 1st start date.

Compensation

The starting pay will most likely be $111,200 to $139,000. The starting pay will depend on various factors including relevant professional experience, education, certifications, and tenure with Uncommon Schools. To receive an offer at the top of the range, candidates will need significant experience beyond the job description requirements. Because we value staff tenure in a role, we do not currently cap salary ranges for current staff members.
